Alcorn State University receives regional ranking for “Best Colleges in the South That You Can Afford”

Best Value Schools identified the best affordable post-secondary educational institutions throughout the South. According to the ranking, Alcorn State University ranks 17th on the list of all colleges and universities in the South for a top-notch education with little debt.

“At Alcorn State University, we recognize the prospect of attending college can be quite daunting for many families,” said Dr. Felecia M. Nave, president. “As the University prepares to celebrate 150 years of academic excellence, we are very excited to again be recognized as a school that prepares its students for rewarding careers with an outstanding education at a great value.”

According to the site, the ranking of the best affordable colleges in the South, affordable colleges with a solid reputation are worthy of a higher rating simply because they make it easier for students lacking financial means to obtain a college degree and fulfill their true potential. Best Value Schools determine ranking by affordability, graduation rates, acceptance rates, and programs offered.

Alcorn is included in the ranking among top post-secondary academic institutions as the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill, Georgia Tech, University of Georgia, Clemson University, and the University of Texas–Austin. Alcorn State University charges the same tuition for in-state and out-of-state students making it one of the most affordable in the region.
