Alcorn State University’s School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences has added a journalist to its team to chronicle the happenings in the department.

Renita Lacy was named the School’s new staff writer Tuesday, May 15. Her duties include promoting the School by interviewing various subjects and people and sharing the news articles with the university and beyond. Lacy is proud to work for the institution responsible for her growth.

“I am more than ecstatic to return to my beloved alma mater,” said Lacy, who earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications in 2017. “Nothing makes me happier than to be able to give back to the place that gave so much to me.”

Through her creativity, Lacy hopes to shed light on the great things the School is doing and what it has to offer.

“I plan to utilize my writing to voice the untold stories within the School’s community. I hope to bring fresh ideas, energy, an upbeat personality, and fierce ambition to this department. I know that with the right direction and support, we can all reach great lengths together.”

Taking the staff write position has worked for Lacy thus far. She looks forward to a fulfilling career at Alcorn.

“My experience has been nothing short of amazing. Everyone has been extremely nice and have tried their hardest to make sure that I am settling into my new role well. I am in a positive space and I truly hope it stays that way.”
