2019 Spring Football Game Cancelled due to expected severe weather

Due to the threat of expected severe weather in the area throughout the day and in the interest of public safety, Alcorn State University has canceled the 2019 Purple & Gold Spring Football Game and postponed all outdoor activities associated with the event including the Parade of Champions, King of the Grill Competition and President’s Tailgate.

The invitation-only 2018 SWAC Football Champions Celebration Brunch will still take place at 9 a.m. in the Clinton Bristow Dining Hall Gold Room. The event will include special presentations from the university to the players and coaches along with a keynote speech by alumnus, former All-SWAC football student athlete, and NFL Super Bowl Champion Torrance Small.

The Lady Braves Softball team has moved its Saturday doubleheader against Jackson State to Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Alcorn Softball Complex. The Lady Braves will play a single game Friday at 1 p.m. on Senior Day.

The Office of Athletics Business encourages Season Ticket Renewals to be made online or by contacting the office at 601-877-6818/6823/6822. A special price of $120 for 2019 Reserved Seating renewals will still be available ONLINE ONLY from April 12-22. Existing season ticket holders should utilize their pre-assigned season ticket reserved code to order their tickets online.

Where necessary, Alcorn is resolved to rescheduling events and welcoming fans and supporters to Lorman this fall for an exciting season. Braves faithful will have to wait to get a sneak peek into what the returning SWAC Champions have in store for the 2019 season at the final Fall Training Camp Scrimmage in August.

Fans and supporters are encouraged to stay tuned to the University and Athletics websites and social media accounts for 2019 season announcements.
