Army ROTC offers scholarships to cadets

The Army ROTC at Alcorn State University looks to add more students to its program by awarding scholarships.

The program is offering the Two-Three Year ROTC Scholarship to freshman and sophomore ROTC students. The students must have been enrolled at the university with a minimum 2.5 GPA. The applicant must be a United States citizen ages 17-31, physically fit, and agree to accept an Army Officer commission. The scholarship application deadline is Friday, Oct. 26.

Greg Trotnic, Army ROTC recruiter at Alcorn said that the recipient not only will benefit financially but also will learn leadership qualities that will aid them on their military journey.

“In addition to assisting students to meet the cost of college, the ROTC scholarship provides leadership experience that builds successful careers after graduation,” said Trotnic.

Trotnic stated how offering scholarships will assist the university with recruiting new students and retaining current ones.

“Scholarships increase enrollment for both military science and Alcorn State University. Some students do not return to Alcorn without the scholarship assistance to pay for dorm or tuition fees.”
