Delta Kappa Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. visits the Jefferson County Nursing Home

The Delta Kappa Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. at Alcorn State University took time from their schedule to visit the elderly.

One of their most recent and last community service projects was to visit the Jefferson County Nursing Home in Fayette, Mississippi Tuesday, Oct. 9. The Alphas go visited the nursing home to show appreciation to the elderly by bringing supplies and providing some form of entertainment. The director of the nursing home, Barney Rankin, always appreciates the brothers of the fraternity when they find the time to visit.

“The residents and I really appreciate the guys coming, and they all are welcome to come back to visit at any time,” Rankins said.

The fraternity did their best to brighten the senior citizens’ day by assisting the nurses and employees with their needs and singing tunes. The guys also listened to the residents as they sung some of their favorite songs.

“We showed up because we appreciate everything they’ve done for us that allowed us to be here today,” Spring 18 ace Gabriel Gardner said at the nursing home.

After the visit, the organization enjoyed its time doing community service. They look forward to engaging with the community more in the future.
