Dr. Cedric Magee embarks on a new journey as associate superintendent for the Vicksburg-Warren County School District

A new associate superintendent has been named for the 2019-2020 academic campaign.

Dr. Cedric Magee, a native of Winona, Mississippi who earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Alcorn State University in 1999, has been appointed to the position in the Vicksburg-Warren County School District.

As a 20-year veteran in the field of education, Magee has contributed to the success of students across Warren County as a principal, assistant principal, and a teacher. Before starting his career, he earned both Master of Science (2002) and Doctor of Philosophy (2015) degrees in education administration and supervision from Jackson State University.

In his latest role, Magee wants to use his influence to provide a better future for current students.

“I am excited and humbled by the opportunity to serve as the associate superintendent for the Vicksburg-Warren School District,” said Magee. “I Plan to use my skill set to build upon the foundation that has been laid. My goal is to ensure that our students have every opportunity to be college, career, or life prepared upon graduating high school.”

The Alcorn alumnus is excited about the new journey that he is on. Although he is filled with anticipation of what’s to come, he expects challenges. He plans to embrace those challenges by using them as a means of becoming better.

“There are numerous challenges educators face and will face,” said Magee. “It is my belief that challenges are opportunities to find ways to do something great. We must continue to find ways to better the lives of our children, despite the challenges that arise.”

As Magee prepares to face whatever lies ahead in his new position, he still maintains his faith.

“I truly believe that the Lord places us where he needs us to be according to his plan. I will continue to trust and depend upon him to lead me where he wants me to go.”

Magee believes that he is well equipped to be a positive influence in his new capacity.
