Dr. Elizabeth Myles and Jerome Myles present at the Professional Agricultural Workers Conference

Two Alcorn State University employees presented marketing strategies to small farmers during a recent agriculture conference.

Dr. Elizabeth Myles and Jerome Myles presented at the 76th annual Professional Agricultural Workers Conference Sunday, Dec. 2 through Tuesday, Dec. 4 in Opelika, Alabama. The Alcornites discussed marketing strategies and radio broadcasting tips for small farmers.

Both employees enjoyed the whole atmosphere of the conference.

“This was an experience of excellence through networking and sharing successes of small farmers in Mississippi through marketing and promotion,” said Elizabeth.

“It was an awesome experience,” said Jerome. “It was my first time presenting at a conference of that magnitude, and I hope to present there again in the future.”

The Alcornites reflected on their role in introducing farmers to updated methods of sharing their services to a broader audience.

“We had the opportunity to network with agricultural and rural development professionals to discuss the accomplishments and challenges in agriculture and community development,” said Elizabeth.

“I was able to sharpen my skills as a presenter by keeping the audience engaged with the topic. It also meant a lot to inform the farmers on how social media interaction could take their businesses to another level.”
