Dr. Ivan Banks, Dr. Dylinda Wilson-Younger participate in 2018 Fall Business and Industry Cluster

Two faculty members from Alcorn State University’s School of Education and Psychology recently met with businesses that are looking to hire students upon graduation.

Dr. Ivan Banks, dean of the School and Dr. Dylinda Wilson-Younger, chairperson and professor in the School, participated in the 2018 Fall Business and Industry Cluster in September.  The forum provided an opportunity for the School to share information concerning education, psychology and counseling, and educator preparation programs to community health agencies and school district professionals.

Banks is confident that the topics of discussion will aid faculty in preparing students with the knowledge necessary for their career advancement.

“The event provided an opportunity for academic units to meet face-to-face with our constituents,” said Banks. “These are the businesses and entities that ultimately hire our students. Their input is critical to ensuring we are providing the best educational experiences for our students. It also helps us to better equip our students with 20thcentury skills that are needed for success.”

Younger is thankful for the meeting. She appreciates the employment opportunities that the stakeholders provide for students.

“The School of Education and Psychology stakeholders provided a wealth of information concerning the availability of internships, permanent employment opportunities, and practical advice for curriculum advancement,” said Younger. “These renewed partnerships will greatly enhance our efforts to provide the highest quality of educational opportunities for our students.”
