High turnout expected for Alcorn’s Fall High School and Community College Transfer Day on Saturday Sept. 21

Alcorn State University is excited to welcome thousands of future Alcornites, family and friends to campus Sat. Sept. 20 for the 2019 Fall High School and Community College Transfer Day Program at 1 p.m. Pre-registration is closed and those seeking to participate in the program will have to register onsite at the $20 rate.

Due to the overwhelming response, the box lunch that comes with preregistration have all been  exhausted along with the expected overage ordered. Onsite registration is $20 and late registrants will be responsible for their own meals.

The Office of Admissions and Recruiting hosts the annual event in the Davey L. Whitney HYPER Complex on the Lorman Campus and they report requests are still coming in. The program, which begins at 1 p.m., will include presentations about the admissions process, financial aid, residence life, and various academic departments and much more. Entertainment, a key component of the programming, will showcase the Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite Marching Band drumline, ASU Cheerleaders, The T.R.E.N.D. Modeling Squad and sorority and fraternity presentations.  

With the change in program and new fee structure, the university is thrilled with the sustained interest in Alcorn and looks forward to welcoming students, families, and supporters to campus.

In addition to the program in the Whitney Complex, prospective students will be treated to a SWAC football showdown featuring the Alcorn State University Braves and the Prairie View A&M Panthers at 5 p.m. at Jack Spinks-Marino Casem Stadium. The game will include a Halftime Show. The game will be broadcast on ESPN 3 and can be ehard live for free on 91.7 FM or wprl.org with Charles Edmond on the call.

Prior to kickoff, the Department of Athletics will honor the latest class of Alcorn Sports Hall of Fame inductees.

During halftime, two ROTC cadets will be presented with full scholarships by the Braves Battalion of the U.S. Army ROTC Program at Alcorn.

To help accommodate High School and Game Day buses, Campus Police is requesting all residential students with vehicles parked at Albert Lott and Hiram Revels residence halls to refrain parking in the rear parking area between 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 through midnight Saturday, Sept. 21.
