Office of Land-Grant Communications welcomes Rochelle Whitmore, project coordinator

Rochelle Whitmore is thrilled to become the newest member of the Office of Land-Grant Communications, School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences.

A Natchez, Mississippi native, Whitmore will serve as project coordinator for the communications unit, which strategizes and performs the branding, marketing, and advertising functions of the School of Agriculture.

Her duties will include administrative tasks as well as managing the day-to-day office operations, including scheduling of the unit’s project requests.

“I love that Alcorn emphasizes professional development opportunities. This is my third year with the University, and I have continually grown, developed and acquired new skill sets each year,” said Whitmore. “I look forward to continuing to learn and grow with the Office of Land-Grant Communications and contributing as much as I possibly can.”

Prior to joining the communications team, Whitmore served as an administrative assistant for the Department of Human Sciences and as a receptionist for the dean’s office, School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences. She received her associate degree in medical office technology in 2010 from Copiah Lincoln Community College and will receive her bachelor’s degree in healthcare management and administration from Alcorn in the fall.

Whitmore is excited about her new position and the responsibilities that it entails.

“I am excited to be in an innovative and creative environment,” she said. “I look forward to implementing new methods to make tasks and projects flow more smoothly for our team. I feel like this is where I belong.”

Beunkka Davis, director of marketing and communications, School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences, is pleased with the commitment Whitmore has shown thus far.

“We are thrilled that Ms. Whitmore has come on board. She has hit the ground running, bringing a valuable skill set and fresh ideas to our team. At a time when we have chosen to redirect the initiatives of our office, our project coordinator will play a valuable role in ensuring that we have the organizational capacity to manifest our vision of a personable, efficient, and productive office. We hope that through effective scheduling, communication, and transparency we can provide a pleasant and creative experience for the various entities of the School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences.”
