Statement on Suspicious Vehicles

Last evening Alcorn State University Campus Police was alerted to reports of suspicious vehicles on campus. Officers were immediately dispatched to the area and based on witness information, were able to quickly identify the vehicle and apprehend the individuals involved. The investigation into this matter is ongoing.

In an abundance of caution for the safety, security and comfort of the campus community and until further notice, the university has initiated its heightened campus access plan. This involves, but is not limited to, more stringent requirements for all vehicles entering campus, increased decal, ID and driver’s license checks and license plate confirmation.

Additionally, we strongly advise all faculty, staff, students and visitors to use the buddy system when traversing the campus at night, be mindful of their surroundings and immediately report any suspicious persons or activity to the ASU Campus Police Department. Additionally, if a campus escort is needed, please dial (601) 877-3000 for officer assistance.
