President’s Excellence Scholarship

The President’s Excellence scholarship is awarded to enrolling Freshmen with a composite score of 28 or above on the ACT or its equivalence on the SAT (reading and math only) and a 3.0 or better high school cumulative grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale upon graduation. This scholarship is renewable each year expanding a period of eight (8) semesters providing the student maintains a 3.0 or above cumulative GPA. This scholarship covers up to $18,000 per year. The recipient of this scholarship must be a first-time freshman. All U.S. and eligible Non U.S. citizens scholarship recipients are required to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) which can be completed online at www.fafsa.gov to be considered for Federal Pell Grant, and other Federal and/or State Aid. If, after filing the FAFSA, you are eligible for a Federal Pell Grant, we will use this aid as part of your scholarship package (Example: Pell eligibility $3000 – Your scholarship award will be adjusted to $15,000). If you are selected as a scholarship recipient, you are required to submit a final transcript reflecting the qualification as stated above no later than 15 days after high school graduation. Failure to submit final transcript and/or meet qualification will render scholarship null and void.

Provost Scholar Scholarship

The Provost Scholar scholarship is awarded to enrolling Freshmen with a composite score of 24-27 on the ACT or its equivalence on the SAT (reading and math only) and a 3.0 or better high school cumulative grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale upon graduation. This scholarship is renewable each year expanding a period of eight (8) semesters providing the student maintains a 3.0 or above cumulative GPA. This scholarship covers up to $15,000 per year. The recipient of this scholarship must be a first-time freshman. University Scholar Scholarship

 

The University Scholar scholarship is awarded to students with 22 or 23 on the ACT or its equivalence on the SAT (reading and math only) and a 3.0 or better high school grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale upon graduation. This scholarship covers $5,000 per year. This scholarship is renewable each year expanding a period of eight (8) semesters providing the student maintains a 3.0 or above cumulative GPA. The recipient of this scholarship must be a first-time freshman. If you are selected as a scholarship recipient, you are required to submit a final transcript reflecting the qualification as stated above no later than 15 days after high school graduation. Failure to submit final transcript and/or meet qualification will render scholarship null and void.

Mississippi Community College Transfer Graduates Scholarship

Scholarship is awarded to those who have graduated from a Mississippi Community College and who earned a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.3 or above on a 4.0 scale in an academic program when they graduated. Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) and Registered Nurses (RN) accepted to Alcorn’s AD or BS Nursing Programs also qualify to receive this scholarship. This scholarship is renewable each year expanding a period of four (4) semesters providing the student maintains a 3.0 or above cumulative GPA. This scholarship covers $2,500 per year. If you are selected as a scholarship recipient, you are required to submit a final transcript reflecting the qualification as stated above no later than 15 days after community college graduation. Qualified applicants may receive only one of the above scholarships.

The Mississippi Community College Transfer Graduates Scholarship is awarded to those qualified students who have never attended a 4- year College or University beyond high school before entering Alcorn State University.

If receiving more than one institutional scholarship, all institutional scholarships combined (including Pell amount reduction for full academic scholarships) cannot exceed the cost of tuition, room and board. Institutional Scholarships includes Academic, Diversity (Scholarship & Grant), Band, Music or any scholarship deemed as institutional.

Your application must be on file by April 1st of the year you plan to attend or the scholarship will not be awarded. Academic scholarships are awarded for Fall and Spring ONLY. Qualified applicants may receive only one of the above scholarships.

Scholarships are awarded based on availability of funding.
