“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically.
Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education,”
said the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. That is why character, like knowledge, matters here at Alcorn. We know that it is not enough to form smart scholars; we must also cultivate ethical leaders. This conviction is woven throughout our entire life together at the home of the Braves.
Religious Life at Alcorn is a wonderful way to know more about yourself and spiritual matters, as well as affirm or develop the kind of character you will need in your career and other pursuits. A number of student ministries services in the historic Oakland Memorial Chapel provide opportunities for students to express their faith and to be inspired. Various revivals, conferences, and lectures punctuate academic learning with a commitment to answering the deeper questions about life.
Regardless of your religious affiliation, you are welcome to worship, learn, and testify at Alcorn.
