The Alcorn State University School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences has the option to offer summer employment to faculty. The following hiring guidelines are:

All nine month faculty seeking summer employment should acquire their funding source from a competitive non-formula grant.

The only exception is for a new scientist who requires financial support while working on grants during their first year of employment.

The Alcorn State University School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences may offer full-time/12 month position for the following individuals:

Director of the Experiment Station, Director of Small Farm and Agriculture Business Center, Director of Global Programs, Director Swine Development, Director of Conservative Research, Director of Agriculture Biotechnology, Dean and Director of Land-Grant Programs, and all other Assistant Director positions.

The Alcorn State University School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences has set the following guidelines for summer compensation.

Department Chairs salary during the summer months only of June and July shall be paid as follows:

Fifty percent shall be paid by Academic Affairs.

Fifty percent shall be paid by the School of AREAS.

Guidelines on all revenue accounts generated within the School of Agriculture, Research, Extension and Applied Sciences Office of the Dean and Director of Land-Grant Programs are as follows:

Effective July 1, 2015, all future funds will be split 75/25.

The funds will be used by the School as deemed necessary.

Twenty-five percent of the current account balance will be transferred to the Dean and Director of Land-Grant Programs’ Office.
