Gifted Education Supplemental Endorsement
Applicants seeking to add Gifted Education as a specialized teaching area to their existing Mississippi Class A educator license at Alcorn State University must meet the following requirements:
- Submit a complete ASU Graduate Application
- Submit official transcripts from all accredited institutions attended
- Submit an educator Class A license
- Submit two letters of recommendation (letters are not accepted from relatives of the applicant)
- Submit an Immunization Record showing proof of two doses of MMR vaccine (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella)
This endorsement can be added to a three-year or five-year license. The supplemental endorsement requires 18 semester hours of approved coursework in the specific subject area once admitted to an MDE-approved educator preparation program at a Mississippi institution.
Once an applicant completes an admission application, progress of materials submission can be tracked in the applicant’s Status Page. Materials submitted by the student, as specified in this guidance, must be legible for processing.
Submission of Materials
All application materials must be submitted by the application deadline for fall, spring, or summer application deadline to receive priority consideration.
Documents Submission
Official transcripts must be requested from the accredited university and cannot be submitted by students.
Letters of recommendation must be submitted by reference. Letters uploaded by the applicant are not acceptable.
Program Format
- Face to Face and Online classes
- Complete the certificate in 1-2 semesters

$40 Application Fee for domestic applicants and $60 for international applicants
