Alcorn State University’s Counseling Services, in collaboration with the Mississippi Public Health Institute, invites local law enforcement agencies to attend an upcoming Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Training.
This training will teach you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults. It’s a critical skill, given that:
- On average, 130 people die by suicide every day.
- From 1999 to 2019, 841,000 people died from drug overdoses.
- Nearly 1 in 5 people in the U.S. live with a mental illness.
