Spring Vegetable Field Day at ASU Incubator Farm in Preston
Farmers, consultants, and others interested in Mississippi agriculture will have an opportunity to hear about results of current research and demonstration projects during the upcoming Spring Vegetable Field Day at the Alcorn State University Incubator Farm, 18600 Highway 397, Preston, Mississippi, according to Dr. Franklin Chukwuma, director of Off-Campus Centers.
The event will be held May 3, 2012, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and is free and opened to the general public.
“Researchers and Extension staff from Alcorn State University, Mississippi State University and Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) will be on hand to present current research findings, describe demonstration plot results, and respond to questions,” said Dr. Chukwuma.
Topics will include vegetable soil, health, low cost irrigation, pollinators, NRCS Programs and pasture poultry production. Personnel from NRCS, Farm Service Agency (FSA) and Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education will discuss available opportunities with their agency on assisting small and limited-resource farmers.
