Alcorn’s sociology major Emanuel Barnes Jr. elected to ASU 2012 Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges
Alcorn student Emanuel F. Barnes Jr., senior majoring in sociology, has been recently elected to Alcorn State University 2012 Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
“Alcorn is proud of our student for his achievement,” said Dr. Samuel L. White, executive vice president/provost. “This designation is validation of Emanuel’s commitment to excellence in his scholarly endeavors.”
“I feel honored and humbled, and truly blessed,” shared Barnes Jr. “I am thankful to my alma mater for giving me an opportunity to shine academically and for making me the person I am now.”
Emanuel Barnes Jr. is not only a gifted scholar who has been on the Dean’s List for several semesters, but he also takes an active part in the University life. He participates in the First Year Experience, he is a student ambassador, a member of the Wesley Foundation and currently works part-time in the ASU Campus Bookstore.
Barnes is planning to graduate in May 2012 and going to graduate school to earn a master’s degree in psychology/mental health counseling. He would like to find employment with the Adolescent Offender Program for the state of Mississippi.
