ATMAE granted continuation of accreditation to Alcorn’s Robotics and Automation Technology Program
“Alcorn State University is pleased to report that its Advanced Technologies, Robotics and Automation Technology Program was recently approved by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE) to continue on accreditation status through 2016.
“We commend faculty and staff in the Advanced Technologies Department, School of Agriculture, Research, Extension and Applied Sciences (AREAS), for their tremendous efforts that led to the continuation of ATMAE accreditation,” stated Dr. Samuel White, executive vice president and provost. “It is a clear indicator of the program’s high quality and commitment to providing an excellent education to our students.”
“The Robotics and Automation Technology Program is a prominent and challenging program,” said Dr. Kwabena Agyepong, chair, Advanced Technologies Department. “It offers our students training and exposure to the latest achievements in science and technology. Graduates of the program are highly in-demand as they possess valuable skills, experience and knowledge to successfully serve as technologists and managers of technology.”
The Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering sets standards for academic program accreditation, personal certification, and professional development for educators and industry professionals involved in integrating technology, leadership and design. The organization is comprised of faculty, students, and industry professionals dedicated to solving complex technological problems and developing the competitive technologist and applied engineering workforce.
The primary purpose of ATMAE accreditation is to encourage and recognize the attainment of certain professional goals and standards for technology and to encourage “continuous quality improvement”. For more information on ATMAE, visit https://atmae.org.
Alcorn State University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the associate, bachelor, master, and education specialist degrees.
