School of Business professor’s research manuscripts accepted for publication

Dr. Akash Dania, assistant professor of finance in the School of Business at Alcorn, has two research manuscript accepted for publication.

The first manuscript “Volatility transmission from mature global stock markets to Middle East and North African stock markets” has been accepted for publication in the forthcoming issue of the Accounting and Finance Research. Objective of this study was to ascertain whether volatility transmits from mature global stock markets of France, Germany, United Kingdom and the USA to Middle East and North African (MENA) markets of Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates. This research has been co-authored with Dr. John E. Spillan, professor of business at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

The second research manuscript “Returns dynamics and global integration of BRICS stock markets” has been accepted for publication in the International Journal of Business and Emerging Markets. Purpose of this research was to assess whether stock market returns of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS nations) are impacted by the stock market returns of leading global stock markets of the United States, United Kingdom, France and Germany. BRICS economies have been identified as among the fastest growing emerging nations in the world. Co-author of this research is Dr. D.K. Malhotra, professor of finance at Philadelphia University.

The findings from these research manuscripts have important implications for investors, managers, policymakers, and scholars interested in the equity markets of emerging and developing nations.
