Roberts promoted
Alcorn State, Miss. (January 17, 2013) – Dr. Betty Roberts was promoted to the position of senior vice president for University Operations and chief operating officer effective February 1, 2013.
Roberts joined Alcorn State University as the senior vice president for Administration and CFO in 2011, following a 30-year career of financial and operations management in the education industry, including positions at the University of Houston, The Pennsylvania State University and University of Missouri system.
Roberts garnered national attention for developing and implementing one of the largest energy retrofit projects in higher education, totaling $36.1 million in facilities improvements at UCM. She is active in national professional organizations and has served on several boards and committees. Roberts is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Administrative Excellence Award from The Pennsylvania State University, and UCM’s Outstanding Woman in Higher Education Administration.
Roberts earned her Master of Education in Elementary Education from the University of Louisville and her Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education from University of Missouri-Columbia.
