Alcorn’s Department of Athletics hires Lynette Smith as new head golf coach
Alcorn State University Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Lynette Smith as the new head golf coach.
Smith is a native of Natchez, Mississippi. Her achievements in high school earned her a full golf scholarship to attend Texas Southern University, where she was named Most Valuable Player, All-SWAC Tournament select, Low Medalist, and the Coaches Award.
Smith is also a professional golfer. She has won several first place awards since turning pro in tournaments such as the Gulf Coast Par Buster, Lady Drivers Tournament, Harvest Club Invitational, and the Boot Walker Golf Classic.
Smith is married to Bryan Smith of Natchez and they have a two-year old daughter Bryanna. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Texas Southern and a certificate in cardiovascular ultrasound from Southern Medical Corporation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
