USDA official to visit School of AREAS

USDA official to visit School of AREAS

On Tuesday, February 12, 2013, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the School of Agriculture, Research, Extension and Applied Sciences (AREAS) will host Dr. Sonny Ramaswamy, director of United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Office of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), according to Dr. Barry Bequette, dean and director of land-grant programs, School of AREAS.

Dr. Ramaswamy will tour the Alcorn State University main campus, meet with Dr. Bequette, and other administrators, as well as representatives from the office of Congressman Bennie Thompson.

Dr. Ramaswamy will also present a seminar entitled, “Opportunities for 1890 institutions to address societal challenges” to the Alcorn State family from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Ray Johnson Assembly Auditorium.

AREAS faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend.
