Planning for AG Academy 2013 camp is underway! AG Academy is an agricultural and technical training camp for youth ages six (6) to twelve (12) held on the historic campus of Alcorn State University, Alcorn State, Mississippi. The camp is scheduled for June 1-28, 2013.
We will broaden the children’s experiences in the camp this year with a trip to Washington, D.C. during the first week (June 1-8, 2013). On this trip we will visit numerous smithsonian museums (including the Smithsonian Museum of American History, the Smithsonian Museum of National Air and Space, and the Smithsonian Museum of African Art), the National Mall, the White House, and other sites to explore the rich history of our nation, our heritage, and the resources of the world. This trip will be an educational endeavor whereas the campers will discover new knowledge, as well as have fun experiences while visiting our nation’s capital. A complete itinerary will be available.
AG Academy will continue with experiential exercises and activities that serve as the core of the program – showcasing all segments of the agricultural industry along the boundaries of the states of Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, and Louisiana. This structure is intended to empower each individual child while they gain a learning experience that will introduce them to leadership opportunities within an agricultural framework. Other attributes of the camp focus on technology, production, environmental stewardship, and agricultural literacy.
The main focal point for this outreach project is to expose children to a stream of agricultural practices and develop them as catalysts within their own communities. Consistent family involvement and community support are key components that nurture the child’s knowledge gained as a result of attending AG Academy.
Plan to enroll your child now! The fee for the trip to Washington, DC is $300. Attendance cost for AG Academy is $150.
