Alcorn’s Wallace appointed to 3-year term on national committee

Alcorn State University’s assistant professor of education, Dr. Jennifer Young Wallace, was recently appointed to serve a three-year term on the Association of Teacher Educators (ATE) Professional Journal Committee by the organization’s National President Dr. Nancy Gallavan.

Dr. Wallace’s term will begin February 2014 at the national convention in St. Louis. “I am humbly grateful to serve and thankful to Dr. Gallavan for the consideration. Serving on the committee is a great opportunity to grow professionally and share experiences with my colleagues,” stated Dr. Wallace.

Drs. Gallavan and Wallace met during the Leadership Academy for ATE held at the Jimmy Carter Center in Atlanta, Georgia, where professors engaged in discussions and activities about humanitarianism and diplomacy. “Dr. Gallavan and board member Tammie Brown were the first members of ATE that embraced me. As I interacted with them and other professors from universities from across the nation, I learned a lot and was able to share my experiences,” adds Dr. Wallace.

In March 2013, Dr. Wallace was selected as a peer review for ATE. She has already begun her work in this capacity. “I am thankful for the opportunity to serve and represent Alcorn State University on a national level. I also thank School of Education and Psychology Dean Robert Carr and Dr. Malinda Butler, department chair, for their support,” stated Dr. Wallace.
