Alcorn’s Housing Department staff to present at professional conference

Alcorn State University’s Department of Housing staff recently received an approval of their presentation proposal for the Mississippi Association of Housing Officers (MAHO) Conference that will be held in Raymond, Mississippi, November 11-13, 2013.

Jessica L. Foxworth, director of Residence Life, Aimee Reynolds, Area I and Residential Education coordinator, Lena Gordon, residence hall director and RHA co-advisor, and Ashley Guidry, residence hall director and RHS co-advisor, will hold a group presentation “If I Only Knew….” that will focus on the challenges that residence life professionals face living where they work and discuss continuing professional growth, setting boundaries and relaxation.
“We have been attending conferences on the state and regional levels since 2009; however, this is the first time that we have submitted a program proposal,” shared Foxworth. “Our group looks forward to the Conference and especially to presenting our topic.” She added, “We have also submitted a program proposal for the Southeastern Association of Housing Officers Conference to be held in February 2014, and are waiting to hear whether our proposal was approved.”

MAHO Conference is an annual event that gathers together housing professionals in the state of Mississippi, provides opportunities for the participants to stay abreast of the trends in the field and help with continued professional development. This year’s theme is “Building Bridges Across the State of Mississippi”.
