Alcorn students attend International Week at Wiley College
On April 9, six Alcorn students from the Department of Mass Communication traveled to Marshall, Texas, to participate in Wiley College’s International Week. Students participated in a roundtable on “Mass Media in a Global Society”.
Junior Derrick Adkins presented at the event on mass media law and ethics. “My presentation focused on laws that prevent paparazzi from violating the privacy of celebrities,” explained Adkins.
“This was a great opportunity to learn, grow and prepare for a career in Mass Communication,” said junior Demetrius Robertson. “We learned from people already in the field about practices that guide the mass media professions.”
Other students in attendance included sophomore Sarah Arnett, junior Alexis Brown, sophomore Fred Galloway, and junior Dominique Woods.
The roundtable included panel discussions from local and state media affiliates.
