Alcorn sophomore Amelia Thompson does internship at Procter & Gamble

Amelia Thompson, a sophomore who studies biochemistry at Alcorn State University, is spending her summer researching ways to improve moisturizers.

Thompson is a products research intern at Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her internship requires her to focus on Olay skin care moisturizers and comprehending consumers’ needs, designing products to meet formulation, package development and fragrances.

The work that Thompson is doing allows her to gain new experiences while striving to improve products that are used by millions of people.

“I like the experience that I am getting from Procter & Gamble,” said Thompson, a Cincinnati native. “I have really enjoyed meeting new people. I love the work I do because I am in a position that will help millions of women who use Olay moisturizers.”

Thompson believes her experience will help her to manage her studies better when she returns to Alcorn in the fall.

“My internship has been action packed. The project that I am assigned requires me to finish a lot of things by a certain deadline. I know that at Alcorn, I will encounter some situations where I will be on a very limited schedule, but if I can handle it here, I can handle it at Alcorn.”

Because of her fun filled experience and love for her city, Thompson would not be opposed to pursuing a full-time career at Procter & Gamble after she graduates.

“I wouldn’t mind working full time at Procter & Gamble. I’m from Cincinnati and I love my city. This is a great place to raise a family. I know that if I pursued a career here, I would not get bored because I will continue to learn something new. I love to learn!”
