The Office of Land-Grant Communications serves as the primary communications unit for the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences (CAAS). The office is dedicated to advancing the mission of CAAS as part of Alcorn State University’s 1890 Land-Grant framework by strategically promoting the college’s teaching, research, and Extension work.

Through intentional storytelling, outreach, and marketing efforts, the Office of Land-Grant Communications highlights CAAS programs, innovative and cutting-edge research initiatives, Extension impacts, and the exceptional contributions of faculty, staff, and students. Our central goal is to elevate the visibility, relevance, and impact of CAAS by showcasing the work being done across the college and its departments.

The Office of Land-Grant Communications provides in-house communications support tailored specifically to the needs of CAAS. All communications activities are conducted in accordance with university communication policies and in coordination with the Division of Marketing and Communication to ensure consistency with institutional branding and messaging standards. While the Division of Marketing and Communication serves as the University’s primary source of information and external communication, the Office of Land-Grant Communications focuses exclusively on advancing CAAS priorities and supporting its internal units.

The office provides media and public relations support, development and dissemination of news and feature stories, marketing and promotional materials, event publicity, graphic and brand coordination, and digital content development. In addition, the office assists CAAS departments, programs, and units in creating high-quality communications that effectively convey their mission, outcomes, and community impact.

Faculty, staff, and students within CAAS are encouraged to submit news items, press releases, upcoming events, and notable accomplishments for communication support and publication consideration.
