Learning Communities

Learning Communities in the School of Business are composed of a group of 10-12 students learning together, about a well defined topic or field of inquiry. Commitment and passion to the mission of the community are essential.

Each learning community will have a faculty mentor. The communities will get additional mentorship from invited experts from outside the campus. It is important that members of a learning community get together frequently, at least twice a month. Every year, each learning community will undertake a service learning project. Depending upon circumstances, this might involve travel and study abroad. The service learning projects may be considered equivalent to internships.

Students are not allowed to join more than one learning community at a time. Minimum of a one year commitment is expected of each student. Unacceptable behavior will result in the expulsion from the community and other appropriate disciplinary actions.

In addition to expressing willingness to join one of the existing learning communities, a group of students may propose the establishment of a new learning community. If this is the case, please contact the Dean of the School of Business for further discussion.
