The NEA Student Program is a preprofessional organization of undergraduate students preparing for careers in education. Being a member of SNEA, students have access to many benefits that will help them through their teaching careers. Students who join this organization also become a part of an educational professional network of state association of educators, known as the National Education Association (NEA). NEA serves in shaping the nation’s education agenda.

What is Psi Chi?

Psi Chi is the International Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purpose of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship and advancing the science of psychology. Membership is open to those who are making the study of psychology one of their major interests and who meet the minimum qualifications. Psi Chi is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS) and is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Psychological Society (APS).

The Goals of Psi Chi

Psi Chi serves two major goals – one immediate and visibly rewarding to the individual member, the other slower and more difficult to accomplish, but offering greater rewards in the long run. The first of these is the Society’s obligation to provide academic recognition to its inductees by the mere fact of membership.

The second goal is the obligation of each of the Society’s local chapters to nurture the spark of that accomplishment by offering a climate congenial to its creative development.

The Department of Education and Psychology at Alcorn State University currently have three clubs/organizations that are active for current students to be active members. Below, you will find information on the different clubs and organizations that the Department of Education & Psychology have to offer its students who meet requirements to be admitted.

Visit the chart below that provides contact information for each club/organization sponsored through the department and the tabs above that also provide information on each organization.
