Diamond Walley shines in American Idol audition, makes it to Hollywood Week

An Alcorn State University student has taken a step further in fulfilling his dream of breaking into the music industry.

Diamond Walley, a senior, music major from State Line, Mississippi who auditioned for American Idol, recently earned a golden ticket and is headed to the show's Hollywood Week. The event will kick off Sunday, March 24 in Los Angeles. The show will be aired on ABC.

Finding success on one of today's most significant musical talent shows assured Walley that he is fulfilling his calling. He reflected on how happy he was to move on to the next round.

"I was very excited," said Walley. "It made me feel like I had turned my dream into a reality. My family and I have been through a lot. Those challenges are what inspired me to chase my dreams. I want to make it for them."

The aspiring R&B artist said that he enjoyed everything about the experience. He appreciates the feedback from the judges and his supporters.

"It was an experience of a lifetime. I never thought that I would get this amazing opportunity. I am so thankful for the feedback that everyone has given me. It was very insightful."
