First Year Experience Program holds Effective Study/Learning Strategies Workshop
The Office of First Year Experience hosted an Effective Study/Learning Strategies Workshop on Wednesday, February 28, 2012 in the Math and Science Auditorium.
Ms. Wanda Stanwood, academic advisor in the Newtie J. Boyd Academic Student Support Center, was the presenter for the workshop.
“The workshop was designed to help provide first year students with helpful strategies to improve academic performance, study skills, and test performance,” stated Dr. Patricia White, director of the First Year Experience Program. “The Office of First Year Experience offers a series of one hour seminars on a variety of topics related to academic success. Our program is designed to provide students with a ‘low pain, big gain’ opportunity to learn strategies to develop the academic skills and personal attributes needed to be successful at the collegiate level.”
In addition to providing information on a select topic, the seminar atmosphere offers students the opportunity to interact and ask questions related to their individual concerns about the subject.
