Alumnus Duvalier Malone speaks to Callaway High School students
On September 20, Duvalier J. Malone, a 2008 graduate of Alcorn State University, spoke to the freshman class of Callaway High School in Jackson, Mississippi. His speech “Back to the Basics” highlighted the importance of being polite, kind, respectful, hard-working, caring for others, and delayed gratification.
A native of Fayette, Mississippi, Malone holds a bachelor’s degree in political science\pre-law from Alcorn State University and a master’s in public policy and administration from Jackson State University. Additionally, he has done post graduate work at Belhaven University.
Malone is currently employed by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs in Jackson, Mississippi. He was recently published in the 2012 edition of Who’s Who in Black Mississippi. Malone is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., NAACP, Young Professionals of Jackson, Toastmasters of Jackson, Association of Political Science, and the Association of Public Administrator, he is an active member of the Youth Council, Congressional Leadership Council 2008, American Political Science Association, American Society for Public Administration, Jackson State University School of Public Policy & Administration Toastmaster, National Association of Professional Organizers and the Mississippi Political Science Association. He has served as a student board member of the Jefferson Comprehensive Health Center from 2004-2008 as well as on numerous outreach projects for New Hope M. B. Church during Hurricane Katrina.
Duvalier’s most gratifying accomplishments are rooted in his desire to inspire the next generation of leaders. “Dream 2 Succeed” was established to provide leadership training and development for youth. Since its inception, more than 1,000 young people have participated in the Foundation’s Youth to Leaders training workshops and conferences. Recently, Malone established Duvalier Malone Enterprise, which is dedicated to supporting human rights and related empowerment issues and serves as the holding company for various enterprises encompassing broadcast and print media, lectures, symposia and the Internet.
