Alcorn grad hosts inspirational online radio show

2012 Tanneka Guice

Alcorn alumna Tanneka Guice ’99 has returned to the airwaves to host her own radio show Desire2Inspire With Tanneka (D2IWT). Since its launch on September 11, the show is quickly gaining momentum and notoriety. Every weekday, Guice delivers an hour long online radio show that is designed to challenge listeners to lead a more positive, drama-free, tranquil and harmonious life.
Though the show focuses on inspiring individuals and their selfless contribution to the world, Guice also talks about current events and openly invites caller comments and questions. In order to attract a more diverse audience, the show will focus on an array of topics, such as health, finance, entrepreneurship, love and relationships, self-help, up and coming community advocates and parenting.

Guice’s rich history in radio makes her no stranger to the airwaves. She fell in love with the microphone long before she became radio host of her own show. Her radio debut was in 1997 while working on her bachelor’s degree in mass communication at Alcorn State University. Guice began as a volunteer and soon became an intern with the campus radio station, WPRL-FM 97.1. Upon earning her bachelor’s degree, she enrolled in the master’s of education program with an endorsement in early childhood education, and continued volunteering at the campus station. At the same time, she also began volunteering with a local radio station in Port Gibson, Mississippi, where she served as the morning host of the AM Gospel Program.

In 2000, Tanneka married her college sweetheart LeRoy Guice, also a graduate of Alcorn State. LeRoy and Tanneka have two beautiful children, Gabrielle, 8 and Corey, 4.
