ASU Extension Program to hold Forage Field Day
A Forage Field Day sponsored by the Alcorn State University Extension Program (ASUEP), will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the farm of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby McKennis, 1075 Clem Wallace Road, Summit, Mississippi, according to Audrey Wilson, area agriculture extension educator.
The event is free and open to the public. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.
Featured speakers and their topics are:
· Dr. Cedric Sims, ASUEP agronomist, “The New and Improved Nelson Ryegrass”
· Dr. Kunjun Han, LSU AgCenter agronomist, SE Research Station, Franklinton, Louisiana, “Hay Quality”
· Mike McCormick, Agri-AFC sales representative, “Growing Forages for Hay Production”
· Rebecca McKenzie and David Shivers, employees of the Pike County Farm Service Agency (FSA) will discuss opportunities for producers through the FSA Farm Loan Program.
“The field day is designed to teach producers how to better manage their forages for optimum hay production,” Wilson said.
