Facilities Management employee helps raise money for American Cancer Society

Ms. Patricia Parker, custodian in the Facilities Management Department at Alcorn State University, recently raised $532 for American Cancer Society.

“I really wanted to do something to help people fight cancer”, shared Parker. “We raised the money within the department and hope that it can help someone. Surprisingly, it wasn’t difficult to collect donations. Almost everybody whom I approached gave whatever they could because they all had a relative, a friend or a neighbor who has cancer and needs help.”

“It was a wonderful effort, it shows that Ms. Parker and our department’s employees care about others and want to give back,” said Galaundra Myles, administrative assistant to associate vice president for Facilities Management. “Ms. Parker has been with the department for seven years and she has generous spirit and is a wonderful person.”

Parker added, “We will do it again next year and do better, and raise more money to help more people.”
