Dr. Renardo Murray presents at Mid-South Music Education Research Symposium
Alcorn State University’s Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of music in the Department of Fine Arts, Dr. Renardo Murray, participated in the Mid-South Music Education Research Symposium held recently at the University of Mississippi. He held a presentation on “Instructional Panning and Rehearsal Practices of Three Selected High School Band Directors.”
Dr. Murray’s presentation was very well accepted and received positive feedback during and after the symposium. Many questions were asked by students aspiring to become public school band directors.
“It was a very enjoyable and informational event,” shared Dr. Murray. “The participants discussed issues and current trends in the field of music education. The Symposium provided us with an excellent opportunity to collaborate and network with other professionals in the area.”
He added, “Two recent graduates from the Department of Fine Arts, Kendra Jenkins and Cameron Jenkins, were in attendance. They are currently enrolled as graduate students at the University of Mississippi. Next year, I plan for our instrumental music education students to present at the Symposium.”
