Math Department student presents at National Association of African American Studies Conference
Alcorn State University’s Alan Freeman, a graduate student in the Computer and Information Science Program, participated in the 2013 Conference of National Association of African American Studies held in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, February 15-16, 2013.
Under the direction of Dr. Krishna Aditya, professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Freeman made two presentations on “Adding Cubic Spline Functionality to Freemat” and “Study of Few Polynomial Roots Finding Algorithms and Adding Functionality to Freemat to Generate a Companion Matrix of a Given Polynomial”.
The Computer and Information Science graduate program is sponsored by the Department of Education’s (DOE) grant “Strengthening Minority Serving Institution” led by Dr. Donzell Lee, vice provost at Alcorn.
Dr. Lixin Yu, department chair, stated, “Research is a big part of DOE’s grant and our faculty are dedicated to leading our students in research, publications and presentations.”
