Alcorn School of Business awarded initial accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs
Alcorn State, Miss. (April 29, 2013) – On April 22, 2013, the Alcorn State University School of Business was officially granted its initial accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
“It is an important accomplishment for the School and the University,” stated School of Business Interim Dean Vivek Bhargava. “The official process of getting accredited by ACBSP usually lasts for a minimum of three years, and requires schools to collect the assessment data and faculty publication record for three to five years. We are proud to say that Alcorn was one of the fastest schools to complete the process: we joined ACBSP in February 2012 and received the accreditation in a little over a year because we had all the necessary data in place.”
The accreditation visiting team came to Alcorn in February 2013 and was impressed with the School of Business’ faculty. “They were pleasantly surprised to see the amount of research produced by a school of our size and resources. The team reported that Alcorn business students were competent and impressively engaged with the program.”
The School is expecting to receive a detailed report from the accreditation body in about three weeks.
