ASU Natchez Farmers Market to host Extension Awareness Day and Fruit and Vegetable Festival
The Alcorn State University Extension Program (ASUEP) Natchez Farmers Market will host its annual Extension Awareness Day and Fruit and Vegetable Festival on Saturday, July 20, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Farmers Market, 199 St. Catherine Street, Natchez, Mississippi, according to Helen D. Brooks, marketing coordinator.
Participants will be offered samples of modified healthy recipes for locally grown produce. “The recipes incorporate healthy ingredients while maintaining the delicious flavor of food,” Brooks said.
Food demonstrations will be provided by nutrition specialists Dr. Mattie Rasco, ASUEP, and Edith Ezekwe, Department of Human Sciences, Jardana Brice and Lela Shelby, both from the Mississippi State University Extension Service, Family and Nutrition Program, and members of the Health and Wellness Program, Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Natchez, Mississippi.
A live remote from Alcorn’s radio station WPRL- FM 91.7 – “The Gold” – will be provided by Jerome Myles, station manager, Department of Mass Communications.
