Alcorn to host annual Ag Field Day

“Improving the Quality of Life Through Sustainable Agriculture” is the theme of this year’s annual Alcorn State University Agricultural Field Day that will be held Thursday, August 29, 2013, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Extension and Research Complex on the Lorman campus.

The program will include demonstrations and exhibits on numerous topics including fruit and vegetable production, livestock management and technology, water quality and conservation, biotechnology for food quality and productivity, marketing and business management, accessing financial resources, integrated pest management, and biofuel and bioenergy crops.
Esmerelda Dickson, state statistician for the USDA, National Agricultural Statistician Service (NASS) Mississippi Field Office, and Wesley Kerr, area conservationist, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) for the southern counties of Mississippi, will serve as keynote luncheon speakers.
