The Alcorn State University Office of Global Programs is hosting visiting legislators from Adamawa State of Nigeria on Monday, August 19, and Friday, August 23, 2013. The 12 lawmakers will be led by Ms. Patricia Yakubu, who serves as a special adviser to the state governor on Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), according to Dr. Dovi Alipoe, director, Global Programs at Alcorn.
“The purpose of their visit to the United States is to explore American agriculture first-hand and to develop possible areas of collaboration with Alcorn State in agricultural development. This collaboration will aid in developing agricultural production in their state,” Dr. Alipoe said.
The delegation will visit agricultural farms in the Delta region, Alcorn State programs, and other areas of interest. The delegation will visit Alcorn State on Monday, August 19, to meet with University administration. A day-long meeting with faculty of the School of Agriculture and a tour of research facilities is scheduled for Friday, August 23. To close out their visit, the delegation will also meet with Alcorn faculty and staff who are originally from Nigeria on Friday.
