Friday Forums are back
On Friday, September 6, a crowd gathered at Natchez Coffee Company in Natchez, Mississippi, to kick off the 2013-2014 season of Friday Forums – informal events that get community members together to discuss important topics. Friday Forums are sponsored by the Natchez Adams County Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Alcorn State University.
The theme of the first fall Forum was “High School Football”, and the head coaches from the four local high schools gave an update and prediction report on their teams. Representing their respective schools were David King, headmaster and head coach, Adams County Christian School (ACCS), Lance Reed, head coach at Natchez High School, Ron Rushing from Cathedral High School and Josh Loy from Trinity Episcopal School.
“This Forum is now in its third year and its outreach and impact continue to grow,” stated Dr. Ruth Nichols, assistant vice president for Educational and Community Partnerships at Alcorn State University. “We participate in topic development, marketing and co-hosting the Forum with the Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce. This is an excellent environment for sharing Alcorn updates with our community members.”
The Forums are free and open to the public. Upcoming topics include Tuscaloosa Marine Shale, innovations in the Sheriff’s Department, and upcoming October events. Friday Forums take place every Friday at 8:00 a.m. at the Natchez Coffee Company, 509 Franklin Street, Natchez, Mississippi.
