Alcorn’s Choral Ensembles spread holiday joy within the Alcorn family and in the community
Lorman, Miss. (December 6, 2013) – Winter holidays are a special time of the year for the Alcorn State University Fine Arts Department as its choral ensembles begin spreading the joy of the season with its series of annual holiday concerts.
“Our first concert that held in Christ Episcopal Church in Vicksburg, on December 5, was so warmly received,” said Donna Schaffer, director of Choral Activities at Alcorn. “We really enjoy showcasing our winter holiday program in all the communities surrounding Alcorn.”
The Fine Arts Department cordially invites the Alcorn family and community members to the concerts that will be held at St. Mary’s Basilica in Natchez at 7:00 p.m., December 8, and on the Lorman campus, Dr. Clinton Bristow Jr. Dining Facility, 12 noon, December 11.
The program will feature the concert choir with orchestra performing G.F. Händel’s, “Messiah” under the direction of Donna Schaffer with Tony Gordon, accompanist. Also performing will be the Women’s Chorale, directed by Ms. Schaffer and The Men Chorale, directed by Mr. Charles Wesley.
