First Year Experience Program hosted a Diversity and Inclusion Workshop

The Office of First Year Experience, Division of Student Success and Enrollment Management, recently hosted a Diversity and Inclusion Workshop in the Biotechnology auditorium.

Dr. Derek Greenfield, director of Educational Equity and Inclusion/Title IX was the presenter for the workshop. “It is critical for students to develop skills in cultural competence and internalize a commitment to inclusion and equity so that our campus can truly be a place where everyone feels valued and maximizes their potential.”

Dr. Patricia White, director of the First Year Experience Program, stated, “Diversity expands worldliness and prepares students for work in our global society.” In an interview held after the workshop, Joycelyn Williams, a freshman from Birmingham, Alabama, shared, “I learned a lot from the Diversity Workshop. People at Alcorn really do care about you and where you come from.”
