Counseling and Testing Center holds de-stress session for nursing students

The Counseling and Testing Center staff recently sponsored a de-stress session for the students of the School of Nursing on Alcorn’s Natchez campus. Fifty-one nursing students participated in de-stress activities.

The session introduced viable skills to promote relaxation to students of a very demanding and stressful profession. Participants visited the display area and the indoor picnic area for suggestive items, ideas and techniques to use during their leisure time to help them relax. The School of Nursing students were the first to take advantage of the new equipment at the massage area. Students thanked the staff for providing much needed relaxations techniques and massages and shared that the session helped them relax after trying to balance work, family and attending school.

“The workshop was a success and our surveys revealed ninety-four percent positive feedback,” stated Dyann Moses, director of Counseling and Testing. “We encourage students to participate in our de-stress sessions each semester.”

Students can also make appointments with the Counseling and Testing Center for individual or group sessions. For the next scheduled de-stress session check Alcorn Today and Campus Announcements, or come by the office located in the Walter Washington Administration/Classroom Building, room 305, or call 601.877.6230.
