Alcorn Gospel Choir performs tours in and out of state, perform with award winning artist Dottie Peoples
The Alcorn State University Gospel Choir made history with its recent tour to Alabama and Georgia. The tour began on March 21, 2014, with performance at 6th Avenue Beulah Baptist Church in Bessemer, Alabama, followed by a morning service event at Victory for the World Church in Stone Mountain, Georgia, on March 23. The pinnacle of the tour was a concert at New Hope Baptist Church in Waco, Georgia, where the choir accompanied legendary Stellar Gospel Music award winning artist Dottie Peoples.
“The Gospel Choir was established at Alcorn in 1971,” shared the Choir’s advisor Cassandra Brown, associate director of Financial Aid. “It has faithfully strived to fulfill its mission of spreading good news through song to various communities near and far.”
The Choir’s next performance will be a part of the students’ community service. They will sing at a fundraising concert in support of the Vicksburg Women’s Shelter, Mountain of Faith Ministries at 7:00 p.m. on April 6, 2014, at Pleasant Green Baptist Church, 817 Bowman Avenue, Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Check local listings and Vicksburg media outlets for further information on how you can support the fundraiser or email [email protected] for additional details.
The choir will conclude the spring 2014 semester with Alcorn Gospel Choir alumni at a reunion concert at Little Rock Baptist Church in Gulfport, Mississippi, on April 26, 2014, at 6:00pm.
