Alcorn SNEA celebrates National Read Across America Day
Students from Alcorn State University’s Department of Education spent a day reading child friendly books to small children.
Alcorn’s Student National Education Association (SNEA) participated in National Education Association’s Read Across America Day Monday, March 2 at A. W. Watson Elementary School in Port Gibson, Miss. The event is celebrated annually on Dr. Seuss’s birthday in his honor.
Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by informing elementary and teenage students about the importance of reading.
Elementary education majors Kurtrina Earls, Kyree Freeman, Haley Scoot, DeAnta Spann and Jazmine Sanders celebrated the day of reading by reading to the students and wearing the trademarked crazy socks and top hat that The Cat in the Hat wore.
