Department of Chemistry and Physics plans alumni reunion during Homecoming

Alcorn State University’s Department of Chemistry and Physics is calling all alumni home for its 2015 Homecoming gathering.

The Department is planning an Alcorn Alumni Reunion October 17 after the Homecoming Parade at the Jack Spinks-Marino Casem Stadium tailgate lot. Dr. Yolanda Jones, associate professor of chemistry and event coordinator, said that the reunion will remind Alcorn alumni of the bond they once shared.

“The Department of Chemistry has always enjoyed a family like atmosphere,” said Jones. “We see this as being a family reunion. We want to bring alumni together and build a stronger connection among students and between graduates in the department.”

Jones hopes that the success of Alcorn graduates will show current students that the possibilities are endless after earning an education from the university.

“We want to strengthen our network. Hopefully, our successful alumni can provide inspiration for our current students by showing them what can be accomplished with a degree from Alcorn.”
